Tajinder Kaur’s Journey to Recovery

For seven years, Tajinder Kaur struggled with poor health. She visited many top hospitals and doctors, but nothing seemed to help. This is the blog of how she finally found relief and regained her health.

The Problem: Low Stomach Acid

Tajinder’s health issues were caused by hypochlorhydria, a condition where the stomach doesn’t produce enough acid. Stomach acid is crucial for digesting food and absorbing nutrients. Without enough acid, Tajinder experienced:

  • Indigestion: Trouble digesting food.
  • Malnutrition: Not getting enough nutrients.
  • Bacterial overgrowth: Unwanted bacteria growing in her stomach.
  • These issues led to severe symptoms that made her life very difficult.

What is hypochlorhydria?

Your stomach has hydrochloric acid in it to help you digest your food. Hypochlorhydria is a condition marked by low levels of stomach acid. Your body may not be able to make enough hydrochloric acid if you have digestive problems, a lack of vitamins, or a stomach infection.

What are the symptoms of hypochlorhydria?

Immediate symptoms involve indigestion, including:

  • Abdominal pain
  • Bloating
  • Gas
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Undigested food in poop
  • Reflux
  • Heartburn

Diagnosis of Hypochlorhydria

The hydrochloric acid in your stomach has a very low pH balance of 1 to 2. Your doctor will check the level of acid in your stomach using a pH test if they suspect hypochlorhydria.

The test results can be as follows:

  • If your stomach pH is less than 3, you have normal acid levels.
  • If the pH is 3 to 5, you have hypochlorhydria.
  • If the pH is higher than 5, you may have achlorhydria. This happens when your stomach stops making hydrochloric acid.

Seeking Help

Tajinder had many symptoms, including:

  • Severe indigestion
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Joint pain
  • Muscle weakness
  • Constant gas and bloating
  • Water retention in her stomach

Despite undergoing many tests like endoscopies and CT scans, doctors couldn’t find a solution. The medications she was given, like DSR (Domperidone and Rabeprazole) and Digene syrup, only made things worse.

Emotional Struggle

Not finding a cure and being in constant pain led Tajinder into deep depression. She felt so hopeless that she even tried to commit suicide. Her husband, a retired school principal, was very worried and tried everything to help her, but nothing seemed to work.

A Ray of Hope

Everything changed when Tajinder met Dr. Raghav Thukral. Dr. Thukral took a different approach and identified her low stomach acid as the main problem. He created a treatment plan just for her.

The Road to Recovery

With Dr. Thukral’s help, Tajinder’s health started to improve. Key parts of her treatment included:

  • Treating the low stomach acid
  • Following a special diet to help digestion
  • Slowly stopping the ineffective medications

As a result, Tajinder’s digestion improved, her joint pain lessened, and she regained her muscle strength. She also lost 16 to 17 kilograms of weight in a healthy way.
