Prabhjot Kaur, 35 Years

When health concerns begin to affect not just the body but also emotional well-being, the weight of uncertainty can feel overwhelming. For Prabhjot Kaur, a 35-year-old woman, this was her reality. Dealing with multiple health issues including a hemorrhagic ovarian cyst, suspected cervicitis, and Grade I fatty liver she found herself worried and anxious about what the future held.

However, with hope and determination, she decided to seek proper medical evaluation and embark on a journey toward better health. What followed was a remarkable transformation through personalized Ayurvedic treatment under the guidance of Acharya Raghav Thukral Ji.

Understanding the Three Main Conditions

Prabhjot’s ultrasound examination revealed several findings that needed attention:

1. Hemorrhagic Right Ovarian Cyst (5.7 × 4.2 cm)

A hemorrhagic ovarian cyst develops when bleeding occurs inside a functional ovarian cyst. These cysts are commonly seen in women of reproductive age and occur as part of the normal ovulation process. While many women experience no symptoms, larger cysts can cause:

  • Lower abdominal and pelvic pain
  • Pain during menstruation
  • Heavy or irregular bleeding
  • Bloating
  • Pain during sexual intercourse
  • Sudden severe pain if the cyst ruptures

2. Suspected Cervicitis

Cervicitis is inflammation of the cervix the lower, narrow part of the uterus that opens into the vagina. It can be caused by infections or other conditions and may lead to symptoms such as unusual vaginal discharge, bleeding between periods, and pain during intercourse.

3. Grade I Fatty Liver

Grade I fatty liver, also known as mild fatty liver, is the earliest stage of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), where excess fat begins to accumulate in the liver. At this stage, fat makes up 5-10% of the liver’s weight. While it typically doesn’t cause noticeable symptoms, it serves as an important early warning sign. Common risk factors include obesity, type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, and high blood triglycerides.

Treating the Root Cause

In Ayurveda, ovarian cysts can be understood as a condition called Granthi a term found in classical texts like the Sushruta Samhita that refers to nodular swellings. Hemorrhagic ovarian cysts, in particular, are correlated with Raktaja Granthi, a condition involving vitiated blood (Rakta) caused by imbalances in the Vata and other doshas.

Fatty liver disease, on the other hand, is characterized in Ayurveda as a Kapha-Meda disorder involving impaired digestive fire (Agni) and accumulation of toxins (Ama).

After a detailed consultation, Acharya Raghav Thukral Ji evaluated Prabhjot’s symptoms, ultrasound findings, and overall health. A personalized Ayurvedic treatment plan was designed to address the root cause rather than just managing symptoms.

The treatment focused on:

  • Balancing Vata, Pitta, and Kapha – restoring equilibrium among the three doshas
  • Supporting healthy ovarian function – using herbs and therapies to nourish the reproductive system
  • Improving digestion (Agni) and metabolism – enhancing the body’s ability to process nutrients and eliminate toxins
  • Supporting liver health – reducing fat accumulation and improving liver function
  • Personalized diet and lifestyle guidance – tailoring recommendations to the individual’s constitution

As Acharya Raghav Thukral Ji explains: “Ayurveda is not just about treating symptoms it’s about correcting the root cause”. Similarly, he emphasizes that “when we treat the root cause and support the body’s natural healing power, the results are long-lasting and beautiful. Every woman’s body has the power to heal, we just need to guide it in the right direction.”

The Treatment Approach

Research has shown that Ayurvedic interventions can be highly effective in managing ovarian cysts. In documented case studies, patients with hemorrhagic ovarian cysts have experienced complete resolution through Ayurvedic treatment. Traditional Ayurvedic formulations with Granthi nashak (cyst-dissolving) properties such as Kanchnar Guggulu, Ajmodadi Churna, and Dashmoolarishta have been used successfully to relieve symptoms and dissolve ovarian cysts.

For fatty liver disease, Ayurvedic formulations like Arogyavardhini Vati and Pippalyadyasava have shown clinical efficacy in managing NAFLD. These treatments work by:

  • Reducing hepatic inflammation
  • Enhancing bile secretion
  • Improving digestion and metabolism
  • Clearing blocked channels (Srotorodha)

For cervicitis, Ayurvedic approaches include local applications and herbal formulations with antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.

The Results

The follow-up ultrasound after treatment revealed remarkable improvements:

Normal Findings:

  • Both ovaries and adnexa appeared normal
  • Uterus normal in size and echotexture
  • Endometrial thickness: 7 mm
  • Urinary bladder normal
  • Both kidneys normal
  • No focal lesion detected
  • No ovarian cyst detected

The complete resolution of the hemorrhagic ovarian cyst, improvement in liver health, and normalization of pelvic findings demonstrate the effectiveness of a holistic, root-cause approach to healing.
